Unlike their best known '76:14' masterpiece, it's more rhythm driven affair, although the seeds of their future lushed-out ambience are clearly in germination. Both 'Incidental Harmony' and 'Sublime Creation' are totems of their time, probably half remembered byt hose who were around for the originals and now available for all to point and wonder at. 'Incidental Harmony' has for years held my attention as pretty much the definitive Global Comms ambient sound- all the ingredients are there, from the thudding heart- beat like bass to the soft synth bursts & ancient yet hi- tech strings. It exists in its own, unmeasurable time, a nod to the past, a nod to the future, while comfortably laying down in the now. The two exclusive tracks are short burst, typical Tom & Mark audio doodles- 'Enlightenment From The Augur' is actually based on an excerpt from Debussy's classical composition 'Afternoon Of A Faun'. Classic British ambient techno. 'Incidental harmony' & 'Sublime Creation' appeared 2 years later making up both sides of the 3rd disk of the 1st press of the '76:14' album. Here's a great way to own those tracks, in their initial 1st release.

"Sublime Creation" uses the same sample used by The Orb on their stunning remix of Suzuki's "Satellite serenade" and used by Underworld on "Mmm skycraper I love you" - its none other than from a cheezi Hi-NRG 80s cover version of Elvis Presley's "Suspicious minds" by the legendary Bobby O - original producer and the man who unleashed the Pet Shop Boys on the world. Its only taken me 21 years to discover this fact...! There's a You Tube link here so you can for yourself: http://www.discogs.com/Bobby-O-Suspicious-Minds/release/397310 Either that or they all just used the same preset on the same synth of course :-)

Hello, from memory it was part of the Disk Library i had for my Casio FZ1, can't remember what that sound was called. It may have been called Fairlight on Synclavier Strings but thats a guess :) Not that we didn't sample other people, but not in this case.

As far as the Orb are concerned, I'd guess it was a direct sample, as sampling was a high part of their art, coupled with a broad knowledge of electronic music....
Rude
Aha! That would make more sense. Do you know which track?
Inerrace
I thought it was a slowed down sample off of Pink Floyd's "Wish you Were Here"

T. Dream wins by one year to the one I found. Can anyone beat 1987?
Kardana
Its also used fairly liberally on FSOL's Lifeforms album.
Matty
T. Dream eh? Trust them to gazump me! Nicely found Sir :-)

I think it's a synth preset, but maybe someone has sampled someone else along the line. It's there in the original of Satellite Serenade. Also have a listen to Floatspace by Holger Czukay. Another comment mentions Tangerine Dream - Sudden Revelation.
