Unlike the previous two releases, which were EPs, this record is a full album although short, consisting of only six tracks. Trent explains this clearly.I am not expressing an opinion al all.Trent envisioned and released 3 EPs.ENTIRELLY for marketing reasons and to be found more easily in I-tunes and streaming services, they decided to refer to it as an LP.Makes sense to me and really needs no additional explanation. Trent is a smart guy.

It is defined by Trent Reznor as an LP. Also, as bbark01 points out, it is also considered an LP by the RIAA.

The RIAA defines an EP as containing 3 to 5 songs or under 30 minutes. In the United Kingdom for sales charts purposes, more than 4 actual songs and over 25 minutes makes a release count as a full album. I haven't looked to see what the Discogs definition is but I believe by the artist calling it an album that would mean it's considered an album.

I'm surprised by how many people dislike this record. I thought it was hands down the best of the trilogy - it takes the same grit from NTAE but uses it to make stronger and more "complete" tracks. Could just be a matter of taste - I found Add Violence to be mostly unlistenable and almost embarrassing to listen to. Also - top notch art design. Hoping the next phase of NIN incorporates more of this sound and image.

Considered as an "album" (as Reznor would like), this is probably the weakest in the Nine Inch Nails catalog. Considered as the third EP in the series that was begun in 2016, this is the strongest effort of the three. Overall, I'd give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

( quoting Trent) So you get pretty much see that is it the 3rd EP in a series of three 30 minute Eps.It is a EP but they are calling it a LP ONLY so it does not get treated as a less significant single when streaming.

track 1: this is the most outright NIИ-ey track here with it exuberantly angry feel. seriously fun.track 2: "with delusions of enlightenment". one of two drum-n-bass tracks that remind me of the diligent track "Driver Down" a bit... but more fun. track 3: a most industrial-jazz-noise song. yes, again, i find it deliciously drone-y fun.track 4: drum-n-bass-ey, an intellectually-stimulating fun little ditty.track 5: unapologetically bleak, exquisitely fun.track 6: jazzy fun that comes to a dystopian end with wedding bells leading into "time is running out"...if you noticed a pattern, you are right... i think this is the most "fun" album i have heard for a while. and it sounds to me like Reznor and Ross had more fun on this album than on the other two in this trilogy. but beware, at 30:15, it barely qualifies as an LP (by 15 seconds). so expect to put it on repeat to get the most satisfaction.

There are only 2400. There was a max of 2 copies per person which wasn't initially announced so they cancelled some orders if people ordered more than that. The second wave were just the leftovers. These were sold right from merchbar like every other official nin lp so there really is no difference. You didn't have to be a spotify member or anything to get one, they just sent some people an email about it when it went on sale. So the pressing itself has little to nothing to do with Spotify.

Spotify emailed the "top fans" of NIN to let them know that NIN were selling a limited edition copy of the album on vinyl, on the website Merchbar. I don't think they worked with Spotify on the album I think they just used Spotify as an avenue to reach fans.

Yeah, they ran like 2500 or something and they all sold out and then they made some more available and those also sold out. I don't know how many they made for the second wave. This is the first exclusive record I've seen from Spotify.

bbark01, I agree. I also bought The Cure but ordered the European versions. Just like the RSD pic discs, the European versions come with dl cards for lossless. I’d suggest buying the 3cd Mixed Up...has all those 12” mixes on the bonus cd! Pressing quality is more of a hit or miss among the US versions too...at least in my experience. I’ve noticed this trend and it sucks especially since most labels etc are now offering lossless and sometimes even 24bit dl. Makes sense and gives buyers the opportunity to buy the vinyl and get cd quality or better to do as they please...it’s gonna be available as torrents anyway. Amazon AutoRip is 256 mp3s. I’ve got Apple Music for that level of quality. I was hoping Bad Witch and Add Violence would be like NTAE and the Definitive Editions/reissues which came with dl cards offering the choice of up to 24bit. So I just bought the digital version via NIN.com...it’s worth it to me and my ears to have at least cd quality for my digital needs.

I got mine on amazon and it had the 'autorip' meaning i got a download, on NIN.com it says you get email after the purchase. so i guess theyre not included if you were to buy in store which kinda sucks... i would try emailing support at NIN.com and see if they can hook you up.

This is getting tiresome, more and more U.S. pressings don't get a download card while overseas copies do (or even a CD). It's a nice bonus. I purchased this and the reissue of The Cure's Mixed up and Torn Down this week. No downloads for any of the U.S. copies, but they are included with the European ones. Surely we enjoy having an easily portable version of our tunes just like other countries do. I'm starting to email any company that does this.....Great pressing and album by the way.

My copy of Add Violence did come with a download code for the vinyl. I have heard that EU copies did come with one while US copies did not. Could be wrong, but my copy of AV definitely did.
