About Album

Junta ˈdʒʊntə JUUN-tə is the debut studio album by the American rock band Phish. The album was self-released by the band in May 1989 without the support from a record label, and received a wider release when Elektra Records reissued it on compact disc in 1992. Junta was preceded by two demo recordings The White Tape 1986 and The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday 1987 which circulated among the band's fanbase but did not receive an official release. Phish also known as The White Tape is a demo album released by the American rock band Phish on cassette in 1986. Often cited as the first Phish album, The White Tape was originally a collection of original material that the band used as a demosample tape for venues, and was sometimes labelled Phish or simply Demo. The album was widely circulated among Phish fans for more than a decade before being officially released in 1998. Phish - Junta 1989. To favorites 1 Download album. Listen album. Junta is strongly based on jamming, definatley more so than any other Phish album. The album also gives off a very real sound, similar to how a bands first album usually is. The album was independently recorded and released on tape in 1988, but did not appear in stores officially until May 8, 1989. While the title might seem to reference a military entity, the album is actually named after Ben Junta Hunter, the bands first official manageragent, whose nickname is pronounced Joon-tah the os sound like they do in look. In addition to a few more traditionally structured songs, Junta contains symphonic-like epics, large-scale improvisation and multi-part progressive rock suites. With great sound and better playing, Phish's debut Junta is highly recommended whether you're starting to discover Phish or are backing up to the beginning. It may be a bit long-winded and unfocused, yet it establishes their dedication to musical exploration effectively - not to mention the typical wild and woolly Phish humor spilling out all over the lengthy tracks. A 2-CD Elektra reissue features six bonus tracks, including three recorded live in 1988 at Nectar's the club that gave Phish their start with a regular gig. About Performer

The music of the American rock band Phish is oriented around group improvisation and superextended grooves that draw on a range of rock-oriented influences, including psychedelic rock, funk, reggae, hard rock and various acoustic genres, such as folk and bluegrass. Some Phish songs use different vocal approaches, such as a cappella unaccompanied sections of barbershop quartet-style vocal harmonies. This is an incomplete list of original songs composed by the rock band Phish. Certain sections of songs have been played separately from time to time, but are not listed below. For instance, the middle section of Guelah Papyrus was sometimes played by itself under the name The Asse Festival. Before The Moma Dance had lyrics, it was called Black-Eyed Katy. Shafty was once called Olivia's Pool, and featured a different arrangement. Taste was once known as The Fog That Surrounds and. Live Phish, Vol. Between 1996 and 1998, Phish turned from a lovable band of geeks to a band of relatively hard-partying geeks. For a while, it worked out great, and the band churned out great performances but, after a certain point, it manifested itself in a musical laziness. Beginning in 1998, the band tried desperately to channel this into an aesthetic of simplicity for simplicity's sake, but that was never a trait Phish excelled at. Their choice of the Velvet Underground's underground classic Loaded for their 1998 Halloween cover album reflected that desire. It certainly fit the bill. Latest Videos. Chart History. i paid $20 a few months ago with free shipping.
Incredible sounding record. I wish everything I owned was this good!
Legendary album (to phans, anyway), and an exquisite pressing. I listened to this with headphones as the first spin with my amp when I got it a few months ago; ended up starting it late on a Friday night, but couldn't stop and suddenly it was 3am.Worth it. Outstanding release.
does anybody have an idea of how many of these were made? talking about the original not the 2013 reissue.
I have one. A former neighbor gave it to me. Not sure how many were made, hard to find any record of one being sold.
Im talking about the original first releases cassette, I understand it was never released originally on vinyl
The original was never on vinyl, I was seeing phish back in the late 80s early 90s and originally only on cassette and then Cd and I asked at the shows and no vinyl to be found until 2012
Hǻrley Quinn
By far the best pressing of anything that I own. I guess you get what you pay for.
energy breath
why the fuck couldn't they put the last three songs on the sixth side
Vital Beast
The 25 minute live Union Federal would've taken up the entire 6th side I'd imagine, definitely bummed about the lack of Sanity though.
I wonder what someone would pay for one of these...
I got one on ebay last year. I can't remember what I paid, but I don't think it was more than $20.
how can i differentiate between the second pressing and third pressing?
Absolutely perfect. Album is flat and dead silent. The mastering is flawless, the packaging is wonderful, all in all a fantastic album to own. Terribly happy with this one!
This is 3 lp's not 2 as described above... just a heads up.
It says it is 2LP and a single one sided LP that is etched for a total of three records.
Should read 3xLP? Right?
Yeah, all of these should be 3xLP. Or rather, like the other pressings, it should be 2xLP + LP, S/Sided, Etch.
This is one of the best sounding albums in my collection, if not THE best. This has always been my favorite Phish album and this vinyl edition brings out sounds you don't hear on the CD. First of all, Mike is alive on the vinyl version. If sound matters to you when listening to music, this is a must-have for any music lover. I honestly can't find a flaw with the sound of this album.
Phish is officially reissuing this:
Anybody have the barcode starting with 8? Not sure why this posting has it starting with a 0.
Can someone let me know if their Pollack Edition with the Pollack Version sticker on the front still says "Deluxe Edition" on the spine? Mine does.
JEMP Records did an amazing job on this release. A true gem in my record collection and still my favorite Phish studio work ever. If you're at all a fan, get your hands on this release
Ah yes, this one will be perfect for all the scummy discogs sharks!
