Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone - legendary album originally released by Alien8 Recordings in 2003. I do not own the rights to this etc etc etc. The album is a celebration of life with its colorful and ahead of its time lyrics and compositions. The band skillfully incorporates elements of indie rock and rudimentary electronic music in a deceptively cobbled together fashion. It has since been repressed in limited quantities on pink and brown vinyl by Alien8 and was re-released on August 26, 2014 on the bands own label, Caterpillar Records. Who Will Cut Our Hair When Were Gone Q&A. Producers Mark Lawson. When it's so easy for bands to stay behind the indie-pop curve that you'd think someone's handing out ice cream back there, The Unicorns are ahead. In fact, they're so far ahead that superficial distinction becomes virtually unnecessary they're striking at the most fundamental structure of the pop song itself. Without scrutiny, Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone, their debut album for the otherwise experimental Canadian label Alien8, can pass for the same sort of sugar-glazed jangle-pop that's been done to death, but has nevertheless been beloved for yea. To be sure, there is an ironic smirk clinging to much of Who Will Cut Our Hair. but there is also the subtle beatings of unpretentious sympathy and maverick potential. Read full review. The schizophrenic tone changes recall the experimentation of Deerhoof, yet the overall sound is as natural as The Flaming Lips. Your current browser isn't compatible with SoundCloud. Gribandis
really glad they reprinted this once rare lp to death.
Moswyn
Did anyone else's come with two A side stickers? I have another A side label where the B side label should be.
Xanzay
Yes, mine did too.
Jaiarton
yeah, apparently all of them did.
Ahieones
Does anybody know if there is a drastic quality of sound between the two new releases? The pink is sweet but generally 180g is better sounding.
Nalmezar
would you people stop. heavier weights don't "sound" better. stop propagating this nonsense - its almost like people have to justify buying only and/or getting stuck with 180 g. like nevermind or headhunters being released on 200 g, it solely helps in preventing warping or stacking wear. only. stop it.
Slowly writer
The sound difference will not be significant enough for you to hear it. 180g is all hype. If you're really worried about it just use a clamp.
Faegal
180g sounds better
Laizel
So glad to have this on vinyl! Pink color is way nift.
Karg
Had my copy of the original LP jacket signed by all members of the band (Alden, Nick and Jamie) while in Montreal to see their reunion show! Actually managed to track them down and chat with each member for a bit. Totally a memory I won't forget.
Wenes
That he did, but he also signed it as 'The Unicorns "& Julian" - Keep Sweet!'. Fun times. Actually met Jamie at a recording studio to get the jacket signed the next day.
Fountain_tenderness
Hey me too! I caught Islands twice on their Ski Mask tour and got Nick to sign all my Islands-related LPs (this one included). I'd bet you $5 Nick signed your LP "Keep Sweet, ~ Nick".
Rko
Love this album.
Mojind
it would be silly of me to buy this again right?

" **Limited Edition Vinyl! 1,000 copies of 180gm vinyl AND 1,500 copies of colored (LPX) vinyl in the first pressing (2,500 total). Vinyl for this album has not been available in many years! " < http://unicorns.11spot.com/the-unicorns-who-will-cut-our-hair-when-we-re-gone-re-mastered.html >

Can you site your source for that quote? I've been searching high and low for the supposed "web store" and have come up empty. :(
Ynonno
from their website store .. "*Limited Edition Vinyl! 1,000 copies of 180gm vinyl AND 1,500 copies of colored (LPX) vinyl in the first pressing (2,500 total). Vinyl for this album has not been available in many years!" -1500 -first pressing, so more if there is demand.
Iesha
that silliness bug must be catching. either that or I've got a full-blown case of what is known as jellybones.
Adorardana
I actually believe that the 1,000 pressing version has sold out in just a couple days.
Ubrise
Remastered so the quality will be different. Also the pressing of only 1,000 will be fairly rare from a collector's standpoint
Fordregelv
New pressings incoming!
Alien
I have that pressing as well. It's the walkmen's first album- i believe they were on the same record label at the time. When I bought the Unicorns album I had no idea that it wasn't them. because I had never heard either band at that time. When a few years later I bought the second album by the Walkmen I thought- they sound a lot like the Unicorns! and then I realized that my Unicorns album was a misprint. I've been trying to figure out what the value of this pressing is- the only other reference I've found to it on the internet is a Unicorns message board.
artman
acrasso So it is real! Thanks for contributing to my belief in my own sanity. I hope it's not worth much because my copy is no longer with me. Something I find interesting is that the actual Walkmen LP was never printed in 2002/2003 because of the mispress. So The Unicorns mispress is the only version of it I believe

Flathan
Has anyone ever gotten a version of this with the wrong band on it? My frist copy that I bought right from the unicorns at a show had a completely wrong band on it, both sides. I always wanted to share this, but never had the audience.
Wen
I pulled out my duplicate copy of this album today for a listen and only just realized that I have the Walkmen misprint! It has a nasty warp in it that causes jumping in the first two tracks though, hoping that my friend with a pressing machine can iron that out for me. So glad this information is on Discogs, or I would be at a loss for years!

Folsa
yeah the mythical wrong band pressing. I've heard of it, never seen it. kind of a gem
Siramath
do you still have it?
Kajishakar
So what color vinyl would I most likely get?
Qumenalu
Mine isn't pink/white, it's straight up hot pink.
Samutilar
Hi. First pressing was pink/white marble. 500 pressed. Second pressing was Black. 3rd pressing is Hot Pink (labeled bubble gum pink on the shrink wrap). I believe they did a 4th pressing of the same bublle gum pink. Then they moved to gatefold with a coke brown pressing and the last one (I think) was gate fold bubble gum pink. I'm not home for a few months but I have all of them so I'll double check when I get there.Little known fact, the first first first pressing was actually mispressed and actually has another bands album on it, not many of those are kicking around. True story it got sold on tour.So what you have is not a bootleg but a repress
Helldor
New vinyl pressing now available. Features full-colour gatefold jacket and LP on brown vinyl.
